Palmers Green and Southgate Synagogue, Brownlow Road

Located just south of the North Circular in Brownlow Road, the first Palmers Green and Southgate synagogue was built in 1936. Previously, worshippers had met in private houses. The 1936 building was destroyed in an air raid in December 1944 and the present building built in 1947.  Worshippers have included fertility expert Lord Robert Winston, his mother, Mayoress of Southgate and founder of the Ruth Winston Centre Mrs Ruth Winston Fox, and Dr Anthony Julius, lawyer to Princess Diana and Heather Mills.  http://www.pgss.org.uk/history/
