Jack Richardson, Pioneering chemical engineer (1920-2011).  

Richardson was born in Palmers Green in July 1920 and educated at the Dame Alice Owens School in Islington and Imperial College London. As a pre war academic, his research focused on the suppression of burning liquids and large scale fire control. After the war, he continued his work in practical mechanics and fluidisation, before joining Boake Roberts developing manufacturing processes in food, pharmaceuticals and consumer products. His textbooks on chemical engineering remain standard around the world. He was awarded the OBE in 1981.

Tony Buzan, Inventor of mind mapping.

The popular psychologist and inventor of mind mapping was born at Brookfield Park Nursing Home on 2 June 1942, though his parents lived in Shepperton.
