A Palmers Green temple to vinyl

In April 2011, rock journalist Pete Paphides and St Etienne’s Bob Stanley went on a three day exploration of the UK’s temples to vinyl, culminating in Palmers Green’s Record Detective Agency. They met owner Derek Burbage and heard a touching story about a gig at a Winchmore Hill barbecue by Martha Reeves http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/apr/14/strangest-record-shops-in-britain

Derek has outlasted HMV, Virgin Megastore, Tower Records etc. Pondering sleeve notes and designs on a 12″ vinyl offers far more than funding Apple or doing other anonymous downloads. Not that I’ve bought vinyl for years – had a good 12″ single collection though. All lost in past house moves and such.
